TIL that Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez had more saves in the World Cup final than the Spanish goalkeeper had in the entire tournament (11+ to 10).

I found this whole situation to be a lesson in media/coverage bias. I seldom heard anything about Spain during the tournament, and their odds were laughably low to win the tournament even when they made it to the semifinals. Then suddenly they beat France and Argentina, and it felt like everyone wanted to come out of the woodwork to talk about how clear it was that Spain were the best team in this tournament and they showed it all along. I should have watched more games and listened to fewer podcasts
